The Meaning

I know, the title is interesting, yet not at all specific. Its nice, in a poetically vague way, but what does it even mean?

I'll explain.

You've heard the expression "like a drop of water in the ocean", right? This is sort of the antithesis expression. In the "drop of water" metaphor, the image of a tiny and insignificant act is created; a small drop of water fell into the ocean, while it may have made ripples, the affect was not that significant. The flame metaphor, however, is about ambition, spirit and resolve. The image I hope to form in your mind is one of a small flame, say that of a candle, and it is this flame's ambition to leave its mark on the sun--to touch it, scorch it, burn it. A flame to burn the sun. Literally, I want to convey a message in support of ambitious goals that will leave a mark on the world and make some positive change.

I don't want to be a drop in the ocean, I want to be the flame that burns the sun.
